Capes Sokol is thrilled to announce the formation of a Family Law practice group with the addition of seasoned attorneys Michael L. Schechter and Ajla Alunovic, and experienced paralegal Lora Logan-Bright.

Schechter, Alunovic and Logan-Bright will join Capes Sokol on May 1, 2024, from The Schechter Law Firm, P.C. Schechter, who has more than three decades of experience working with family-related legal matters, will lead the new Family Law practice group.

The Family Law practice group at Capes Sokol will offer a comprehensive suite of services tailored to meet clients’ diverse needs, including dissolution of marriage (divorce), division of marital assets, protection of nonmarital property, maintenance (alimony), child custody and support, paternity issues, appeals, enforcement of existing orders, and more.

“I’m thrilled to be bringing our family law group to such an exceptional firm and be able to offer another discipline to serve Capes Sokol’s clients,” said Schechter.

Schechter earned his Juris Doctor from Washington University School of Law in 1991 and his bachelor’s degree at Washington University in 1985. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Family Law Section), the Missouri State Bar Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (Family & Juvenile Law Section), and the St. Louis County Bar Association.

Schechter has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® since 2012 and by Super Lawyers® since 2014.  In 2022 Schechter was awarded “Lawyer of the Year” in Family Law for St. Louis by The Best Lawyers in America®.

Alunovic earned her Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2014 and her bachelor’s degree from Saint Louis University in 2010. She is a member of the American Bar Association (Family Law Section), the Missouri State Bar Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, and the St. Louis County Bar Association.

Alunovic was selected for the 2020 inaugural edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® for her work in Family Law. She was also selected for Super Lawyer’s 2021 Missouri & Kansas Rising Stars®, and in 2020 received the Missouri Lawyer’s Media Up and Coming Award.

Logan-Bright brings more than two decades of experience to her role as a paralegal. During her seven-year tenure at The Schechter Law Firm, P.C., she focused extensively on Family Law matters. Her wealth of experience is a valuable addition to our Firm’s collective knowledge base.Top of Form
